Packing List

Laundry is done daily in all our camps.

For hunting we suggest dark green/olive cotton clothing.  Khaki is not ideal.  Camouflage is legal in South Africa, but can be problematic in other African countries. 

We suggest the following:

Clothing (see also Seasons & Weather) : 

  • 1 pair of worn in boots - ankle high, with extra laces
  • 2 – 3 pairs of socks for hunting
  • Underwear
  • 2 pairs of hunting trousers
  • 2 pairs of hunting shorts (optional)
  • 2 hunting shirts – preferably long sleeve
  • 2 T-shirts (neutral colours)
  • 1 warm jacket/parka
  • 1 warm jersey/sweater (optional)
  • Shooting vest - on bird hunts only
  • Cap/hat
  • Warm woollen beanie
  • Gloves (optional)
  • Casual camp wear - a track suit is ideal, include a sweater for evenings
  • Camp shoes (sneakers/running shoes)
  • Sleepwear
  • Travelling clothes
  • Smart casual wear if a stay over elsewhere is part of the itinerary
  • Blaze orange vests or caps are not recommended, unless you are bird shooting

Day pack & Hunting: 

  • Small day pack
  • Sun block (minimum SPF 20)
  • Lip balm (with SPF)
  • Tick/insect repellent
  • Sunglasses
  • Camera with spare batteries
  • Binoculars (not to heavy, 8 power is sufficient)
  • Rifles/Guns (see Firearms)
  • Ammo (see Firearms)
  • Belt & ammo pouches
  • Rifle sling
  • Soft rifle/gun case (optional)
  • Knife/Multi tool (optional)
  • Small flashlight with spare batteries (optional)

Other: 

  • Passports/Visas/Travel vouchers (see Travelling)
  • Currency/Travellers cheques/Credit Cards
  • Personal medication (We have First Aid kits in our camps and vehicles.)
  • Spare spectacles/contact lenses
  • Items of a personal nature
  • Toiletries
  • Diary
  • International plug set for chargers etc. (SA electrical system: 220 – 240V, single phase, 50Hz, socket types D & M)
