South Africa

South African climatic conditions generally fall into 3 categories

Mediterranean in the south western corner of the country: the Western Cape, including Cape Town and the Garden Route.

Temperate in the interior plateau: The Northern Cape, Karoo and Free State.

Sub-tropical in the northern and north eastern parts: the Waterberg, Limpopo Valley and Timbavati/Kruger Park.

During peak hunting season, from March to October, temperatures will generally vary between -2 - 15°C (28 - 59°F) at night and betwenn 18 - 36°C (64 - 89°F) during the day.

Most of the country has warm, sunny days and cool nights. Rainfall generally occurs during summer (November to March), although in the southwest, around Cape Town, rainfall occurs in winter (June to August).

Zimbabwe

From March to August high temperatures range from 25 - 27°C (77 - 81°F) and average lows from 7 - 10°C (45 - 50°F).  September to October has average highs between 32 - 34°C (90 - 93°F) and average lows between 15 - 19°C (59 - 66°F).

In the Zambezi Valley temperatures may be somewhat higher, particularly from October, when temperatures can often reach 40°C (104°F) or more.

The dry season is from April to October, and the rainy season from November to March.

Zambia

From June to September average high temperatures are approximately 30 - 35°C (86 - 95°F) and lows are approximately 11 - 14°C (52 - 58°F).  October has average highs of between 35 - 40°C (95 - 104°F) and average lows between 18 - 22°C (64 - 72°F).

The dry season is from April to October, and the rainy season from November to March.

Botswana

From May to September average high temperatures are approximately 23 - 28°C (73 - 82°F).  At night it can drop down to 0°C 9 (32°F) and in the Kalahari Desert to to even well below freezing point.  The dry season is from April to October, and the rainy season from November to March.
